How do we prepare for the future when we don’t know what the future will bring? We can’t predict how to get from A to B… we’re stumped and overwhelmed (it’s too complicated!), there are time constraints and economic pressure. How can we get comfortable with challenging goals and navigate the grey zone between here and there? How do you sustain this?

What is KATA and Why KATA?

The Improvement Kata & Coaching Kata combine a scientific working pattern with techniques of deliberate practice, to make scientific thinking a teachable meta-skill anyone can learn. These foundational thinking habits are a basis for:
Successfully pursuing seemingly unattainable goals in complex systems.
Enabling teams to make decisions and maneuver effectively.

The link between KATA, TWI and Lean?

Toyotas Production System (TPS) was built on the TWI J-programs as Mr Taichi Ohno was a certified TWI-trainer and adopted the concept fully while making Toyota what it is today. Lean is then the outcome of daily practice of both TWI and (TPS).
Mike Rother named that daily practice “Kata” in his book Toyota Kata (2010), making the connection to martial arts where this term is used for well trained practices.
Kata and TWI are both developed to change the behaviour and thinking of individuals, not people as a group!

The purpose of this 2 day KATA workshop

The training aims to highlight the participants’ ability and insight to daily conducting experiments with a clear methodology, to be able to conduct continuous improvements in real environments.
Doing the 2 days you will work with the KATA game, this is develop and tested by the Swedish LEAN KATA group.
